This Cookie Policy explains which cookies and similar local-storage technologies Expat Shield AI™ uses, why we use them, and how you can control them.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. We also use browser local storage and IndexedDB for similar purposes — together referred to as "cookies".
2. Cookies we use
Strictly necessary
- Authentication session — keeps you signed in (Supabase).
- Payment session — temporary tokens used by Stripe during checkout.
- Security — CSRF and rate-limit protection.
These are required for the service to function and cannot be disabled.
Functional
- Language preference — remembers your selected interface language.
- UI state — remembers dismissed banners and onboarding progress.
Analytics (optional)
We use privacy-respecting, anonymized analytics to understand which features are used. No personal identifiers are stored. You can opt out in app settings.
3. Third-party cookies
- Stripe — sets cookies on its checkout iframe for fraud prevention.
- Supabase — authentication session token.
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
4. Controlling cookies
You can clear cookies and local storage from your browser settings. Disabling strictly necessary cookies will sign you out and prevent payments from completing.
5. Changes
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced in-app.
